IOTA GAMMA GAMMA CHAPTER HISTORY {1984 – Present}

I. Birth of Iota Gamma Gamma  

Iota Gamma Gamma Chapter was born December 29, 1984, in the Main Post Chapel, at Fort Polk, La.  Bro. Jethro Hills (Omega Chapter) 9th District Representative presented Fifteen Mighty Omega Men of various chapters with the charter for service to the Fort Polk and Vernon Parish area.

The application for the Graduate Chapter Charter was made to the Supreme Council of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. through the Ninth District Representative, Brother Jethro Hills (Omega Chapter).

Our early members were all outstanding soldiers in the community with successful careers. Iota Gamma Gamma initiated its "First Line" in 1985.  Members of that line consisted of the following three brothers: Bernard Bolling, Glenwood Hence, and Ronald White all soldiers stationed at Fort Polk. These brothers were an essential element to the growth in the early years.

II. Timeline of Superior Service and Accomplishment

Iota Gamma Gamma  Chapter has served the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.and the community in various capacities.

• Iota Gamma Gamma has a rich heritage that has almost three decades of selfless service to the Fort Polk community and surrounding areas.
• Brothers of Iota Gamma Gamma have served and are stilling serving their country as well as Omega with outstanding pride and commitment.

• Over the years Iota Gamma Gamma has also awarded over $20K in academic scholarship. The chapter has also awarded scholarship awards to local talent hunt winners in excess of $10K.

• Boys 2 Men Program and provide monthly visits to the local nursing homes.

• We have also held Voter Registration Drives, walked thru communities to register voters, supported political candidates thru financial contribution, serve as mentors with the local
