EPSILON IOTA PROGRAMS
Ronald E. McNair Challenger Open Golf Tournament - The Ronald E. McNair Challenger Open was established as an effort to support the charitable and philanthropic responsibilities of the Epsilon Iota Chapter. The proceeds have gone to support the McNair Endowment Fund at Huston-Tillotson University, community youth activities such as the Flight International Track Club, the Alvin Patterson Austin All Star Marching Band and numerous scholarships to deserving students to continue their college education.
Bridge Builders Program - Each week Epsilon Iota members mentor and tutor young males identified by Barbara Jordan Elementary school staff as "at risk". The boys learn about leadership, citizenship, and the importance of academics. The program also includes educational field trips and attendance at sporting events. Since it's inception in 2009, the boys in the Bridge Builders program have a 95% success rate in passing the Texas Assessment of Academic Skills Test
F.R. Rice Spelling Bee - Epsilon Iota conducts the annual F.R. Rice City-Wide Spelling Bee to encourage academic achievement and recognize star students and teachers. Winners receive trophies and U.S. savings bonds.
Back to School Bazaar - The Annual Back To School Bazarr & Supplies Drive is an effort to energize students, parents, and teachers for the upcoming school year. Students and parents are treated to a carnival filled with moonwalks, a petting zoo, games and prizes, and good food. Each year over 500 students and parents attend. School supplies are distributed at the event.
Mother to Son Dance - In order to emphasize respect for womanhood and motherhood, E.I. hosts a Mother To Son Dance each year during the weekend prior to Mother's Day. Mothers and sons are treated to an evening filled with great food, music, and other entertainment. Proceeds from ticket sales benefit the Austin Batter Women's Shelter.
"Hole In Your Soul" Fatherhood Forum - Epsilon Iota partners with the Center for adoptive Children to host an annual fatherhood forum focused on improving fatherhood skills through active participation, communication, leading by example.
FRIENDSHIP IS ESSENTIAL TO THE SOUL
