The Achievement Week Subcommittee shall organize the Ninth District Achievement Week Program consistent with the National Achievement Week Program and the Fraternity’s mandate.

About The Achievement Week Committee

International Achievement Week is a mandated program of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. Inc., that was originally designed to promote the study of African American life and history. Its beginnings date back to the 1920 Grand Conclave held in Nashville, Tennessee. It was at this Conclave that Brother Carter G. Woodson inspired the overall idea to celebrate the African American. Each year during the month of November, the Mighty Ninth District stands ready to recognize the accomplishments of the Fraternity Members and Key Leaders throughout theie communities, who have contributed to community uplift and social development.  The celebration begins with the International High School Essay Contest, which recognizes high school seniors competing for chapter, district, and International level honors and concludes with chapter and personal awards (Graduate Omega Man of the Year Award, Undergraduate Omega Man of the Year Award, Superior Service Award, Colonel Charles Young Military Leadership Award, Citizen of the Year Award, Founders Lifetime Achievement Award, Dr. Ernest E. Just Undergraduate Chapter Advisor Award, Large Graduate Chapter of the Year Award (50 or more financial members), Small Graduate Chapter of the Year Award (5 -49 financial members), and Undergraduate Chapter of the Year Award (5-More financial members)). The theme is selected by the members of the International Achievement Week Committee and presented to the Grand Basileus, to makes the final decision with assistance of the Grand Executive Council. The theme is then shared throughout the fraternity in order for chapters to build their week long recognition programs. The Achievement Week Committee is highly regarded as one of the most actively employed committees within the fraternity.
